Title: Binary droplet Collision Outcomes Detection in Interacting Sprays using Convolutional Neural Network

The injector plate of a liquid propellant rocket’s combustion chamber is composed of multiple fuel and oxidizer injectors. The spray droplets formed by injectors interact with each other, resulting in a change of droplet size, shape, and velocity. This leads to a change in the mixing characteristics of the combustible mixture and thus the combustion dynamics. In past studies, researchers performed studies to understand the collision dynamics of spray droplets but only considered the low Weber number regime, which consists of the collision outcome regime, namely, bouncing, coalescence, stretching, and reflexive separation.
